The flavors of the fillings came through very well. Unsure when I will be back to Boston. We bought a chicken parm calzone they'll heat it for you and it was pretty darn good. I considered taking pictures of it for Yelp. It's the bread that makes their calzone outstanding!! So its always our late night dessert craving. I would only go back once more to try the florentine to save my impression of it.
This is when I first encountered the delights of Bova. Also love the crunchiness of the shell!! I love the caramel-almond sweetness of the shell, it allows for a slightly sweeter cannoli but it is balanced out nicely with the ricotta filling. N yes its wayyyyy better than Mikes pastry! The second day we went, there were two very kind females that complimented our makeup and asked my coworker what lipstick she was wearing. Bova was born in Junction City, Kansas but grew up in Denver, Colorado. So I figured on the way to the airport. They are open all night.
And I get the hype--it is super tasty and different from your average cannoli. Overall my experience was so underwhelming and disappointing. We had no destination, no time restraints, just exploring. Their Boston Creme Pie is really outstanding and it's sold by the piece.
The layout of the bakery makes queueing up easy when it's crowded, unlike other places in the North End where it's a free-for-all and ordering can be frustrating. The lady at the counter suggested I try their Florentine Cannoli which seems to be a crowd favorite on here. The creme brulee is out of this world. Although I only purchased a cannoli which was absolutely delicious, when I go back I for sure will buy other pastries. None of the flavors have disappointed so far, and peanut butter is my favorite so far.
And I could get 1 cannoli to make up for the shortage. But it seems like Bova's would be less crowded. Ugh, big swoon for this small unassuming bakery. We bought a small box worth and have been slowly nibbling on them since. At 18 she joined the U. Rice ball is def my favorite! Both the pignoli nut and pistachio cookies are great.
On a side note, upon opening. I ate the 2 rice balls at the gate waiting for my flight. The cannolis, on the other hand, were awesome. Oh, I'll be back Bova! Honey, almond and something else flavored she'll with regular filling. Recommend: Cannolis, Boston cream pie, coconut cake, taking home a box of cookies.
The lobster tail is not as tasty as I expected tbh. He studied at the school of Beatrice Bracco in Rome and also studied acting with. The cappuccino was quite accurate and flavorful though. If you want an authentic North End experience check out Bova's it is sure to please.
The combo is just beyond words can describe!! She won the Lightweight National Bodybuilding Contest in 1997. If I were to ever come back to Boston, I definitely would get their pastries again. So I drove down here where the streets are narrow and only parallel parking kings and queens dare to park. Blueberry and strawberry cheesecakes are light; don't know how they managed that. I got spinach and mozzarella rice ball, it comes with tomato sauce. There on the same corner as they have been for over 30 years everything is the same baked with love.
. It was really a feat trying to restrain myself from eating them all in one sitting :- I am so glad to have discovered Bova--nothing is more satisfying than walking past the long lines at Mike's and Modern with a cannoli in your hand that you know is better and that you didn't have to wait a ridiculously long time for! Pepperoni and Cheese Arancini- Hearty, meaty, cheesy gooey-ness inside this breaded ball. I recommend to anyone to made your way here especially when you have no place planned to go. The shell was a little saggy. So ever since that day I have come here to grab a sweet treat or savory item such as a freshly made sandwich.
A lot better than the last time I had a cannoli. What a wonderful world of delights Bova's was. My coworker and I went here because a Boston-native recommended it to us, and we fell in love. And finding parking was the same.
